Selena Gomez’s Mental Health Startup Layoffs 60% of Staff Amid Financial Struggles

by Daphne Watson

Wondermind, the mental health startup co-founded by Selena Gomez, has announced significant layoffs, cutting 60% of its workforce. This reduction results in the loss of nine employees as the company grapples with reported financial difficulties.

The layoffs, which took place on May 12, 2025, have raised concerns about the startup’s financial stability. Affected employees were notified that they would be compensated through May 12, 2025, in addition to receiving two weeks of severance pay.

In a further development, a missing paycheck from April 30 was issued on the same day as the layoffs. However, employees are still awaiting reimbursement for health insurance premiums that were paid in the previous month.

Wondermind, which was founded in 2019 by Gomez, her mother Mandy Teefey, and Daniella Pierson, has focused on creating mental health-related content, including articles, podcasts, and interviews aimed at raising awareness and providing resources for mental well-being.
