Jersey Business Leaders Partner with Mind Jersey to Tackle Workplace Mental Health

by Daphne Watson

JERSEY, Channel Islands — In a progressive move to prioritise mental wellbeing in the workplace, two of Jersey’s leading business bodies—the Jersey Chamber of Commerce and the Institute of Directors (IoD)—have partnered with mental health charity Mind Jersey to deliver enhanced support and training for employees and employers alike.

The initiative is designed to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and equip professionals with the tools to address mental health concerns within their organisations. As part of the partnership, members of both the Chamber and the IoD will receive a 50% discount on accredited mental health training courses delivered by Mind Jersey.

Training options include:

  • Suicide Awareness Workshops
  • Mental Health Awareness Sessions
  • Accredited First Aid for Mental Health Courses

“By investing in training and raising awareness, we hope that all members are equipped to recognise and respond to mental health concerns or suicidal thoughts,” said Lee Madden, President of the Jersey Chamber of Commerce.

“As business leaders, we have a responsibility to care for the wellbeing of our teams—and that responsibility is personal. I’ve lost colleagues, and I know firsthand how important this work is.”

As part of the initiative, Mind Jersey will host a free mental health awareness session in July, specifically for HR professionals who are either members of the IoD or work for organisations affiliated with the Chamber.

Alex Ruddy, Chair of the IoD, echoed Madden’s sentiments:

“We strongly encourage all members to take advantage of this opportunity. The training offered by Mind Jersey is not only informative but transformative. It can make a genuine difference in creating safer, more supportive workplaces.”

Driving Cultural Change in Jersey’s Business Community

The collaboration signals a growing commitment within Jersey’s business sector to address mental health as a critical workplace issue. With rising rates of stress, anxiety, and burnout across industries, local leaders are increasingly recognising that mental wellbeing is key to both employee retention and organisational success.

Mind Jersey’s courses aim to break down barriers around discussing mental health and provide practical strategies for early intervention and support.
